Flight Under the Eiffel Tower (Commemorative Window Panel)
A Gift for a Pilot Who Made History
Beryl took a week-long residential course to create this piece as a gift for a dear friend—an ex-military pilot who flew under the Eiffel Tower and wrote himself into the aviation history books. She wanted to capture both the daring spirit of that flight and the beauty of springtime Paris. The composition balances the tranquility of Paris in bloom with the bold silhouette of the single-seated aircraft cutting through the sky.
Technique:
Traditional lead came construction with painted details to define the Eiffel Tower's supporting stanchions and the aircraft's silhouette.
Dimensions:
Approximately 70 × 90 cm, designed to hang over a window for optimal light.
Glass Types:
A mix of textured, fleckled, and plain glass to create movement and scatter light.
Color Palette:
Soft spring greens, delicate pinks, and sky blues for Paris in bloom, with bold accents highlighting the aircraft.
Special Touches:
The River Seine flows in textured glass, while blossom trees and clouds bring balance to the composition.
Installation:
Hung over a window, the panel transforms natural light into a living narrative.
